2010 Horse Show in the Woods

The Side Saddle classes at this year’s Horse Show in the Woods were well attended and all nine riders (including three Juniors) looked so elegant and put together. The Juniors were judged separately.

The morning started early with the Appointments class outside the ring. Joannah Glass along with the show judge Mr. Brian Higham, Stud Groom for the Duke of Beaufort, Badminton, England, judged the classes. Following the Appointments, the Ladies Sidesaddle under Saddle class rode, sponsored by Linda Algar and Scott Farrell of Flutter-by Farms. Linda Algar on her Appaloosa, Sunny Boy, took first; Ann Lawhorne on Bally Welcome, an Irish Draft (RID), was second; third was Betty Alexander on Tennessee; Taylor Myers on Arnie Bloom’s Clover Hill Silver Lining took fourth; Lisa Doker on General Ike was fifth followed by Amber Asbell for sixth place.  The three juniors, Tatiana Hoover, Boyce and Justice Myers, came in next for their Under Saddle division. Junior classes were sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Thad Myers. Tatiana did a fabulous job holding together her naughty bucking horse, Neverland. Boyce Myers on Lady Bug was Junior Side Saddle Champion, her younger sister Justice took Reserve on her pony Run for the Roses. They also placed one and two in the Appointments class. Tatiana and Neverland placed third. Photos below: Guess Who? (left) and Tatiana Hoover (right).

Ladies Sidesaddle Hack was next, asking for walk, trot canter and the option of jumping two crossrails. Taylor Myers placed first, Betty Alexander second, Linda Algar third, Ann Lawhorne fourth and Lisa Doker fifth. Placings in the Appointments class were also announced with Linda Algar first; Betty Alexander second; Ann Lawhorne third; Taylor Myers fourth; Lisa Doker fifth, Amber Asbell sixth. Justice Myer entered the next class, Foxhunter Hilltopper Under Saddle in her side saddle outfit and came in Third, beating out a lot of the old-timey riders out there. Ann Lawhorne and Arnie Bloom took first in the Pairs Class, both looking elegant -- Ann riding sidesaddle and Arnie in his Hunt Scarlet coat. Photo below: Ann Lawhorne and Arnie Bloom.
